This farce has been in the news at least a month now

Jesus. Never heard a thing about it.

Why do you say farce? Is it because of Mayweathers shameful antics on the WWE etc?

I thought the first fight was very close. I even thought De La Hoya may have just edged it on work-rate.

Mayweather is ducking Cotto. If he win this rematch with DLH he stated he wants to fight Hatton again in England. It's a bit hollow of him to brag of being the best fighter in the world if he doesn't fight Cotto.

It's a farce because it's not about who's the best in world boxing, it's about money and loads of it. The first fight IMO was laughable and Oscar I thought won....It's a safe safe fight for both men, nobody gets beat up or hurt and both make a sh&% load of cash.

Look out early 2009 for Hatton-PBF in Wembley. Another safe farce, all about money....

 what a cynical match. I hate mayweather but I don't know how anybody could think he lost. he won like a pussy but still won clearly. The skeptic in me thinks that they made it a split decision to claim contraversy and justify a rematch.

I will absolutely refuse to watch this "fight"

oh no...pro boxing is about making money i never realised. So pbf has a chance to make upwards of 20m against Oscar or maybe lose his undefeated record(i dont think he would)against Cotto in a fight that wouldnt have the selling power or make the same money. In his shoes what would you choose

    I don't see what you're getting at?

Yes, PRO boxing is about money and nobody is denying that. And YES, if you can
make loads of money for little effort, definitely do it. This is what PBF and Oscar are about.

The first bout wasn't a fight at all. It was a glorified sparring session. It wouldn't surprise me at all if the whole fight was choreographed so that they could do it all again and make another heap of cash. Same with Jones-Trinidad, another sparring session....

All I am saying is that the fight is a farce, it's not genuine and it's not PRO boxing at its best. It's hype and money and clearly lacks substance...

Man, Ray Leonard and Hearns and Hagler and Duran would be falling around laughing at this circus effort from Oscar and PBF.....

Expect another bore fest and spar when these two meet again....

Then wait for Hatton and PBF in Wembley..

PBF ran lIke a bitch for the night, threw the odd combo here and there. He didn't beat Oscar IMO, and I am not alone in thinking this. Oscar wasn't much better by the way, but had he not forced the action, there wouldn't have been a fight.....

I agree with your thoughts on the Jones v Trinadad bout. THAT was laughable.

But I think you're being a bit harsh on the 1st Oscar V Mayweather bout. Oscar definetly tried to beat him (and I think he won the fight) but Mayweather did what he always does which is stay elusive and not get hit and land almost every punch he DOES throw.
Mayweather fights are never going to be tear-ups. He fights the way he thinks boxing should be fought. He never gets hurt and is STILL undefeated!! Thats what the sport is all about.

I agree that at this stage of his career all he's interested in is the cash and the easy payday but I don't think the same can be said for De La Hoya or Hatton. De La Hoya will try his best to beat Mayweather and I'm damn sure that Hatton will want to knock him out. Hatton is not in it for the cash,

I dont believe this will be a sparring match, i think PBF has won over a lot of fans and will want to put on a good show,Before he was not concerned about this- DLH will definetly be looking for a ko, i also thought DLH won the 1st bout but PBF never got out of 1st gear.

PS, the Trinidad v Jones fight was just like a spar but it was a nice exhibition of boxing that i really enjoyed-the reason it was like a spar was more to do with the natural weight difference though imo! Jones knew he could not be hurt by Trinidad and just put on a show..if the power was equal this would of been a tear up!

Mark my words lads, neither PBF or Oscar is going to extend themselves in this match. Just like in bout 1, neither man from what I saw, really was trying to win. Yes, Oscar was coming forward and throwing most of the shots, but they were hardly real effective and damaging. PBF was quite happy to do the absolute minimalist for 12 rds. And remember, this was an Oscar who was maybe 5 years past his physical peak. Paul, I know you are a fan of PBF, but his two recent shows against a poor Oscar and an over rated one dimensional Hatton were far from convincing....

Bren he done as you said the bare minimum and still DLH could not catch him, the fight sucked! Hatton was made to look ordinary too, he'll be back at the top in no time, PBF is just 1 of the special fighters that makes other great fighters look bad..I was up for DLH in the DLH V PBF fight!!

I think Cotto would beat Mayweather because unlike DLH he won't run out of gas halfway through the fight and he has the power to hurt Mayweather.
Yes, Mayweather maybe ahead on points bit i think if they fought Cotto would eventually stop Mayweather.

Cotto would get bashed like hatton was, Mayweather played with DLH he would not do the same with cotto! Cotto would hardly land a dig on him..

    DLH couldn't catch him?

    But what did PBF do?

He was supposed to be p4p the best.

PBF ran and hid and Oscar harried and chased....

PBF didn't make a fight of it and I cannot give him credit
for 'making' Oscar look bad. Oscar was bad, but PBF wasn't any better...

I suppose what I am saying is that PBF didn't WIN or fight to WIN in the
    bout......

I'll be the first to admit that I was one who over rated Hatton. I really did

The guy is a good brawler and simply has no outside skills. The actual fight
with PBF stank because of all the holding and spoiling from both
fighters. Hatton was a nuisance to PBF more tha anything and when PBF did
    open up, Hatton folded....

I want to see PBF in there with real championship fighters like Cotto...

Then we can all see who's the best....

nah i don't think he would because, unlike Hatton, Cotto is not a blown-up welterweight. Cotto would be able to take Mayweather's shots and keep coming forward. He is superior to Castillo in his prime who gave Mayweather a torrid time in their first fight.
I think if they fought Cotto would end up stopping Mayweather in round seven.
