I found my old Savings book a couple years back and theres a picture of him on it, theres a couple of quid in it. I toyed with the idea of going in to see if im due a sh1t load of interest but never bothered as the book is about 23 years old. I might dig it out now that hes back on the scene.

Used to love my Henri the Hippo piggy bank.
Kept losing the key, but a screwdriver (or even a 1p coin!) was enough of an edge to get it back open!
The wall calenders were cool too!

Not fair. I want one of these and I've no kids/nieces/nephews that I can exploit so I can get a Henry Hippo. Perhaps if I explain to the bank in the staff that I generally behave like a 10 year old, they might take pity on me.

    Wrong...on many levels.

It's obviously a cynical ploy on behalf of Ulster bank to tap into the retro zeitgeist so that young parents get that 'jumpers for goalposts' vibe in respect to shilling retail banking products to their children.

But it sure beats Northern Rock's 'Lemmy the Lemming'.

Oh yes, of course it's cynical. It doesn't stop me wanting one though :(

But they have them on display on the shelves and you can just grab one! My kids grabbed one each, and now I never have any change in my purse as they keep emptying it and placing all the coins in Henry.

Every penny I have ever made has gone through Ulsterbank purely because of Henry. Cynical but a masterstroke.

the government have it by now with their dormant accounts moneygrab.

Apparently Henri is one of the members of the Anglo golden circle and the credit crunch is due to his exposure to the sub-prime market.

I myself have been with Bank of Ireland for over 20 years thanks to a Stephen Roche account with an initial balance of 1 pound.
