    Hi all,

My laptop stopped working today... I didnt do anything out of the normal i just use it for internet and emails,

When i push the power button you hear something very slight. not the normal noise.. The power light and battery light are on and are green which is normal. The screen doesnt light up tho. No sound either.

When i eject the disk drive it does open and close.. when i put a disk in it does spin.

I thought it might be the monitor so i connected a new one via VGA but it didnt work, It didnt switch over.

    Do anyone have any ideas?

nope it laptop would boot to the BIOS screen if it was, I just wanted to see was the laptop booting but not just displaying on screen.

Did you try the FN button with the correct F button (usually F4) when you connected to the LCD panel?

    hey

Yes i did use the right button,,

But for some reason it started up now.. i didnt nothing different. I got the the password screen and logged in. But then i got a screen saying something has changed in windows please enter your windows vista product key. so i did (it's on the laptop) but it was it was wrong.. so i thought maybe i put it in wrong. so i would do it again.. but it wouldn't let me .. it kept crashing with a blue screen saying something like "windows has detected a problem and must shutdown to prevert damage" something like that

then when i start it again i get an error telling me there is something wrong with windows.. so it looks like i need to re-install windows.! I also think the battery is fecked cos it wont charge at all.

So i've to try find the Re-installed vista disk!

I even went into the boot area and tried to select boot from CD boot it wont work !!
    any ideas?

did you try "last known good config" by pressing f8 when booting?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,360 ✭✭✭NeVeR

yes i tried that,,,, See it's saying i have to active vista because there has been a change or something.... when i enter the product key it says it's invalid (which it's not) and it wont let me past that screen...

just leave the key blank and press enter, Vista should give you a thirty day trial and you can see will your laptop boot into windows at least

dont forget to contact the laptop manufacturer. Problems at initial startup are rarely attributable to the OS.

it's out of warranty. But I hope nothing else will go wrong. So lets see ;)
