Has there been any deaths at gigs in Ireland in the last ten years or so apart fro mthe Pumpkins do you know of? Just listening to the Pumpkins there and reminded me of it! Very morbid but curiosity has the better of me now!

I was at a Ocean Colour scene concert years ago in the point.
These flupping baxtards were pissing down on people from the balconys.
When they were finished one of them slipped on a bit of spillage and fell to his death.

I believe the term is powned.

I was at a Cat Power gig a couple of years ago. She was terrible and died on her ass. Does that count?

I think it's a lot to do with probability. That amount of people in a confined enough space. Eventually at some show, something will go wrong. The "banning" of crowd surfing etc. may have stopped flying neck breaks and excessive trampling but the only way to be sure of eliminating the risk is full seating, and I for one say HELL NO!! I'll take the risk thanks. I can look after myself. If I choose to crowd surf, I am aware that it might go wrong. Much in the same as any risk taking. Nannying society out!! Self awareness and responsibility for own actions in.

PS, tragic deaths are indeed that and are awful for friends family witnesses and the victim, but if you sign up for something...........

there's often a death or two at the festivals every year, from people overdoing the drink/drugs

Yeah, there was a lad that died at a festival last year but he had heart problems.

the problem seems to be those not knowing there limits like your man a while back who took everything then thought he could fly, and people buying/taking things from randomers where they dont get any sort of quality assurence they would get from there regular supplier.
