Old Sub card, digibox not reading it?

Hi, i just set up a second digibox in the house, and its working fine, Getting all the FTA channels, I have an old sub card, havnt used it for about a year, I popped it in but the digibox just wont read the card, The card numbers comes up as "no card" in the details menu, So i put the sub card from the sitting room in and it reads that perfect, so its not the card reader, and the box in the sitting room wont read this card either, It looked a bit dirty so i gave it a clean with a cloth but still no lluck, it still looks a bit greasy though, Would it be ok to give it a good hard scrub with a cloth?, The card worked perfect before, But the fact it wasn't used for so long its obviously deactivated, Would a deactivated card show the card number in the details menu? Any ideas how to get this card to work? Or is it a lost cause?

An old sub card would show its details once placed in the box, why do you want to use the card for it wont serve any purpose...what you want is an FTV card which will give you CH4 etc.

    Not entirely true.
An old expired Sky card can have one useful function - to enable the Parental controls/PIN restrictions on a digibox.
Without a card there is no way of enabling Parental controls.
An expired but still registering card will allow you to enable PIN restrictions etc.
The one major drawback is that it also (if it is an Irish card) reinstalls the Irish epg without ITV which is a silly nuisance.
An expired UK card is a better option. (It may even allow C4.)

I am not sure about this but it is possible that only recent (yellow house) cards may function. I have one expired but it registers fine. I have 2 older (blue/white) cards and neither register as present so of no use at all. I guess it is possible for Sky to completely deactivate a card.
You could try leaving it in the box overnight, if it doesnt update in 24 hours then the card probably is scrap.

Its the ver 2 card, (Yellow house), And its a UK sub card, i used to use it to get C4, and Five, The weird thing is when i put in the box, it reinstalls the UK EPG with ITV and that, so its reading something off the card, Just wont register the card itself, I'll leave it in for a few days and see of it comes back to life.

Even though card is inactive, I'd still think it would register on the system details page with teh card number. Maybe try cleaning the contacts better?
