Hey guys. Since getting into photography in a major way a few weeks back i have been fortunate to make some awesome gigs.

Below are some shots that i am quite proud off and would really like to get some C&C as i hope to really improve in with regard to photography live shows.

    Thank you!

The first is from DJ Hype and Dillinja in the Tivoli on Saturday night.

The last two from DJ Shadow and Cut Chemist in the Ambassador on the 13th of March.

Hey dude. Number one is the best shot in terms of composition. Red light can be a real pain in the ass for anyone taking photos at a gig! What were these taken with? They're a bit soft.

Yeah the red is a killer, it was on Shadow and Cut Chemist all night. It's just easier to see everything as a DJ under red i believe, especially when your running 8 decks and 4 mixers between you!

The photo's were just taken with my compact, a Fuji FinePix f40fd. I can't really afford the step up to a dSLR right now but hope to do so in June. Right now most of my efforts are lying around composition and structure.

Well the pics are quite soft which is completely udnerstandable given its a compact camera you used. If you were to look a DSLR with the oft-talked about 50mm 1.8, you'd notice an instant impovement. This was from the first - and only - gig I shot.

There are alot of folks here who're hugely into gig photography, and I'm endangering of doing them a discredit, but one of the primary determinants of the quality of your shots is a fast lens. Red lighting sucks, but I'm sure you can see from your own shot how interesting green lighting can be.

Not sure if you're a student or how old you are but if you can, get a student loan. Two grand, 9 months interest free, great for getting a DSLR.

This is a shot I took on friday night in Crawdaddy, a band called Amoric, cool band. PP is very quick (I'l be putting up more later with more time spent on em) but just wanted to show you what can be done about red light. This was shot under red/pink light using a custom white balance. Enda showed me that and it's proved very useful indeed.

Just keep shooting and saving money for a DSLR.

I like the first one the most, you captured the lighting really well.

thanks a million for the hints and tips! Sadly am 26 with a 9 to 5 and right now money is sparse! Currently a little bit goes aside each paycheck for a new camera though!

I'm going to get about searching based on the advice given, i'll pop back with more questions if i have them!

    Thanks again.
