Kayak - opinions

I have resolved to get a sit-on kayak, principally for exercise, but also to be able to take one of the kids for short trips.

I had decided on a BIC Bilbao as it seemed to be good for straight-line padding. I will be generally using it close to shore around the Bull Island and Howth.

Now my head has been turned by the RTM Mambo. A mate of mine has one and swears by it. I was in a shop in Belfast today and can get an attractive deal there for approx. 570. The equivalent spend on the Bilbao would be over 700. (He keeps it in Donegal so it's not practical fr me to borrow it).

My heart and head say Bilbao, but the pocket is screaming - "Get the Mambo and save 150 !".

The Mambo is better in waves, but, for where I'll be padding, that's not a material advantage. The Bilbao will be better for taking a passenger, but the pocket's argument remains in my ear.

Any opinions, or suggestions wwhere I could get opinions ?
