So the title says it all but I know nothing about brands and models etc...and generic search engines are providing over whelming results.

Does anyone have a any suggestions in terms of what would be suited to me?
I have never played cello before but I can play guitar quite well (if that's of any relevance) so are there particular brands or models suited to beginners?

I would highly rec you talk to Crehans. Fab service and they'll certainly help you get started... Even if your just looking for advice and then buy it else where.

    There based in Dublin.

I bought a violin in Crehens many years ago.
So what I hear you say..... read on!

Well, I walked in the door as a complete stranger, talked to the guy about how much I had to spend, what I was at etc.... So he hands me some to try out, I eventually decide on one.

OK, he says, take it home and if your happy come back and pay us !!!!!!
    Hello!
No, I replied, I'll pay for it now, and If I'm not happy I can bring it back and change it. The guy was not having any of it, take it, try it, and pay later!!

I pretty much had to force him to take the money :-)
It's the most awesome shop I ever had the pleasure to do business with.

PS: I never did bring it back, it's a lovely instrument :-)

I give them 10 out of 10 for service.

Thats them alright. I got to take a Stick Double Bass home for a week with no deposit. Did not like it and went back a few weeks later and bought a 3/4 Double Bass instead.

I can not highly enough praise there customer service.
