the jg is very nice but if you put it next to the vfc there is no comparison in quality but then again you can buy 2 or 3 jgs for the price of the vfc

they both actually look the business, you wouldnt really be able to tell the difference until you examine them more closely but the JG body is made from ABS compared to the VFC's metal body. the whole front rail on the JG is metal though and feels nice. it doesnt have the cocking mechanism like the VFC though where the hopup cover stays locked back until you release it with the button on the left side of the rifle., the PEQ box on the JG is far nicer looking than the one on the high end VFC.,

well the peq is personal opinion, i don't like any peq myself, them metal work is some if not the best i;ve come across on the vfc hk416 and for me its easy to the see the difference between the abs and the finish on jg and the matt finish and the markings on the vfc is very different but your paying for that finish and quality where as to some its not as important.

yeah i dont like the PEQs either but the JG one is far better than the VFC, another nice feature of the VFC is the mags that dont have winders underneath like regular hicaps, they have a wind key that goes in the side of it to wind it up., i cant really agree on the quality of the metal on the JG, i was pretty impressed with it and both of them are sitting right beside eachother on the wall in eirsoft so it wasnt hard to campare them. the front rail has that nice sharp feeling to it,.:)
i suppose the one downside to any abs body aeg is that over time and use they wear themselves kinda shiney.,

lol., not exactly fair though, theres more pics of the VFC one.,:p
and the JG looks kinda grey for some reason., the VFC PEQ actually looks decent in that pic so that shows how deceptive the pics are., :D

well i like the vfc :) but if there where more picks of the jg i would have posted them, i always then the jgs abs looks grey ish well the one at ctg was, but again we could argue this all night and a little off topic anyway

That box - PEQ or somesuch - is that the battery housing? That would annoy me, needing to have it there. What does it do 'in real life'? Laser, torch?

It might be an idea to put up a list of suggested beginner AEGs and GBBs with pros and cons. I recently made a list for a mate of steps in which to get kit, looking something like this:

    The basics:
AEG (That’s a rifle, or Airsoft Electric Gun) - starting at €130 or so. You get what you pay for, the cheaper ones have limited warranties and can be unreliable. Some common types:
H&K G36C (fantastic – so popular they don’t stay in stock)
Steyr AUG (as used by the Irish Army – good but ugly)
M4/M16 (variations of US Army’s favoured rifle (not pretty but very common, and easy to get parts for))
AK 47/74 (Needs no introduction – getting a good cheap one might be hard though)

    Goggles or mask
    BBs (plastic pellets)

    More:
    Spare battery
    Extra magazines
    Silicone spray
    Pistol (Probably gas-blowback, or GBB)
    Holster (for pistol)
    Gas (for pistol)
    Boots

    A good set-up:
Harness (hold magazines and other equipment)
    Camo clothing
Smart charger (for your batteries – a good idea, batteries are pricey and you need them to last)
Mid-cap magazines (the mags you get to start with are Hi-caps, which hold a lot of ammo but are like baby-rattles – a good idea to buy in bulk)
AEG (To really cover all situations and to have a spare, you should have a couple of AEGs of decent quality: full-size assault rifle or sniper, and a close-combat submachine gun)
Propane and adapter (If your pistol is full-metal, you can save money by using propane gas, for which you need an adaptor)

Maybe collectively we could create some sort of organised list with pros and cons for each of the starter/low-end systems, suggested accessories and an upgrade path. These questions crop quite a bit and I know it was tricky for me when I started (recently enough). And, somehow, avoid the usual opinionated... Nahhh, not going to happen ;)
