southcoast -> NTL MMDS

    Hi,

    My parents have southcoast in their house in Cork, and that picks up the 7 free to air channels. This comes into the attic and into a tv splitter/booster box. They are thinking of getting NTL, which would mean getting the mmds setup. Is it possible to run the cable from the mmds aerial into that booster box to send the signal to other rooms or would they need a new kind of booster box ?

    thanks...

    The MMDS power inserter on coax to MMDS dish and then couple the power inserter into the splitter. You might need an attenuator and it might overload anyway.

    But you need a setbox in each room. NTL part of UPC MMDS is all Digital.

    BTW:
    The Analogue SCTV should be due to close this year.
    Chorus part of UPC MMDS is going 100% Digital also.

    Hi Watty thanks for the replies as always, a lot to digest :D.

    Its actually Chorus MMDS where they are and not NTL (not sure if that makes a difference). Was up in their attic earlier and the cable going to the rooms is RG59, not sure will that carry mmds digital (or even satelitte digital)

    Basically they want to get the multiroom so get 2 boxes. So do ya reckon that the line coming off the aerial could go into some splitter type box and then connect the rg59 going to the rooms into that splitter ?

    The rg59 will carry MMDS signal. Upc would install triple screened RG6 if they were installing but if your happy to use the rg59 they will install on that for you.
