    ...because I have a mac and none of their techies know anything about macs :rolleyes:

    All of a sudden I can't connect to my wireless at home, the signal is there but when I try and connect it just doesn't work. The network is open so there are no password issues, and when I go to the self test screen and hit 'connect' this is the message I get:

    08/01/2003 01:29:31 Delay 3 second - do_connect
    08/01/2003 01:29:31 If(ATM1) PPP fail : CHAP authentication failure
    08/01/2003 01:29:29 enter pppShutdown()
    08/01/2003 01:29:29 ATM1 start PPP
    08/01/2003 01:29:29 Dial On Demand(ATM1)

    The ISP is talktalk through the Carphone Warehouse (in NI by the way..) and they say they can't help...so...if any mac bods have suggestions I'd appreciate it. Incidentally it connects no problems to other networks when I'm traveling, it just refuses at home!

    Any suggestions welcome :D

    Does it work with any other devices? Mobiles phones, Windows Laptops, etc.?

    What router / access point is it?

    This sounds like your username/password for your ISP connection is incorrect.

    When you say wireless, what do you mean?
    That log looks like it comes from the router, but it also means the wireless part would/should be unaffected (i.e. you can connect to the wireless network, but not to the internet through it)

    Hi,

    What wireless access point do you use? Is it separate to your DSL modem?
    Can you connect directly via the DSL modem?
    Open Finder> Utilities> Terminal and type traceroute www.google.com hit return and post results here. Try on wireless and directly connected to modem

    The question is whether it's your connection to the Internet (modem) or your wireless network (access point) that is the issue.

    Confirm that your mac can establish a connection to the wireless router first. Go "System Preferences > Network > Airport > TCPIP" and check that you have a IP valid IP address; post the latter here if you're not sure.
