Sticky Sky plus recordings

    Hi all

    I have my sky+ box for a few years and have noticed recently that some of the recordings are sticky. They seem to freeze and the only thing I can do is back up, go back into a user defined time a few minutes ahead of where it froze. Is this common/likely to get worse? Is the only solution a new box?

    Have you tried the Sky+ Planner Rebuild option in Installer Menu?

    I think it defrags the HDD and then powers off your Sky+ box when fininshed.

    Nope dont think I have ever seen the Planner Rebuild Option but I'll give it a try. I presume this will wipe the HDD?

    It doesn't wipe your HDD, your recordings and series links will stay intact.
    Its like a HDD cleanup routine.

    Its in the hidden Installer Menu.
    Press SERVICE - 4 - 0 - 1 -SELECT on your remote to it up on screen.

    I have had the same problem with Sky+ and did a rebuild. It has improved the issue but hasn't eliminated it entirely.

    Are we the only two or is it common to older boxes?

    Its supposedly a common issue on Amstrad PVR3 boxes (current 160GB Sky+ box) and PVR2 boxes (40GB).

    Try turning off the instant rewind option.

    Press services
    Press 5..

    turn instant rewind to off
    Then save setting


    Helps a great deal with freezing issues.

    I am having the same problem, so I tried the Sky+ Planner Rebuild last night. This morning 12 hours later it's still running (displaying - Housekeeping, Please Wait), do you know if this is normal or how long it will take?

    No its not normal. Just knock off the box and run it again.

    Thanks for that ongarite, hopefully it hasn't messed anything up.

    Bazman, if you disable the Instant Rewind function you won't be able to rewind live tv, you can still pause live tv, but won't be able to rewind.

    Yes, I've had that happen on two occassions. I switched the box off and everything seemed to be alright subsequently (until the next freeze session started).

    hi can anyone help i have been reading your site and have done the defrag thing and its not worked my prob is that my box won't rewind live tv it will for about 10 secs then the PAUSE sign comes up :(
