The Creature from the Black Lagoon

What an adventure we had yesterday !!

I was up to my waist in seawater (on purpose) and my friend Brian was in over his head into a 5 foot deep stagnant pool with all his gear (not on purpose) !! And this pool was the dirtest stagnant pond you can possibly imagine.

Let me go into slightly more detail.

We decided to explore another cave at white rocks after our adventures in cathedral cave and parliment cave. This new cave had an entrance gangway about a foot wide with a 6 foot drop onto rocks on one side and a drop into the dirtiest stagnant pond you can imagine on the the other. I slid along the gangway on my backside into the cave. Shortly after I heard a large bellow behind me and saw no sign of Brian for a sec. Then he emerged like a creature from the black lagoon, spitting up who knows what. It could have been very nasty indeed, but the pond probably was the best place for him to have gone. Thankfully all his gear was safely tucked away in bags and seems to be no worse off. he was slightly damp to say the least. Not advisable in a 5 degree strong north wind.

As for myself, I negotiated a tricky corner in freezing waist deep water in my speedos to get into what I think is the Parliment cave which has a blow hole. This is the cave that blows froth up onto the main road on stormy days. There was plenty of froth in it today as you can see below. There was a mini tornado going on inside it whipping up froth out of the blowhole.

    And here the shots
