What can I claim, sign on for?

    Hi,

I have been working full time for the last 3 years and have been paying all work related taxes. I voluntarily quit my job and was paid up until the third week of March. Since then I have been actively looking for a new job but there are no suitable jobs or jobs that I'm interested in applying for.

My question is if I can sign on for the dole, social welfare or whatever state benefits that I might be entitled to? And also if I can claim (these) benefits from the day I became officially unemployed?

    Thanks

    FS

You may be disqualified from getting Jobseeker's Benefit for nine weeks if you:

    * Left work voluntarily and without a reasonable cause

Contact your local office straight away, you'll get a definitive answer.
