Astra Satellite ?

A friend has an old satellite dish in the Attic
He used to use it for Sky
Now sky use something else?
Will this dish and receiver box get me
UK free to air channels (BBC)?

I'd presume it's an analogue system, so useless for BBC etc.

You could use it on Astra 1 for German channels, and Eurosport in English (if it's still there).

Otherwise, the dish would be OK, as long as it has a universal LNB, together with a digital receiver, which are relatively inexpensive. Dish needs to point at Astra2/Eurobird constellation at 28.2/28.5°E

Right. So I could get a digital receiver elsewhere.
Just missed the last of the satellite sets in Lidl yesterday.
Guess modern sets are digital?
Is that a range of degrees from 0 degrees = North
180 degrees = south etc.
Making that what? NNE on plan?
Is angle dish makes with the horizontal important?
If my other Lidl is sold out are
Any of the sets in the Maplin catalogue worth the money?

Look up google for aligning a dish, lots of info with comprehensive diagrams etc for this to be honest. And don't bother with lidl dishes etc and maybe wait 2 months to get a freesat box when they come out, could be better than current fta boxes
