Cheap Car Audio

I want to upgrade my audio in my car and want to do relativly cheaply. I am considering using a PC 2.1 system and powering it through an inverter via the 12v car supply.
I will only be using the 2.1 whilst driving so would I be right in presuming that it will not drain the battery on the car? Is there any other other disadvantages to using this set up?
