Have tried turning the sound back up on my Acer laptop and I went in, as ual, via the control panel. Its telling me there are no audio devices and I cant select one... Its strange as it always used to work and nothing has been dont to the laptop.

    Any advice would be useful.

Which operating system? If XP, to Start->Control Panel and open System->Hardware then Device Manager. See if there any exclamation marks beside any of the Sound Devices. You might try to reinstall the sound card drives then.
