The Patriot

    Is a truly shocking film.

It's as if Mel just asked every other actor to deliberately act badly and let him steal the show which is what happens.

I watched it when I was around 12 or 13 and thought it was brilliant, the scene with the two sons at the start et al, and the blood, guts etc.

But I recently watched it again and I could not believe how I had ever liked the film.

The acting is truly shocking, Heath Ledger was poor by his standards and the lead actresses were a disgrace.

Disastrous film saved only by Mel's tomohawk which is used too little to make the film worth seeing , 4/10.

I know it's old but I just had to say that.

Despite its obvious flaws I find it enjoyable after many viewings.

I quite like it and have seen it at least a dozen times. IT's a good old fashioned boys own adventure with added gore.

    'BraveHeart Two'

    The movie is Pantaloons...

Also, I hate the 'American Civil War Era' History...

I'm quite interested in this era and I still hated that bloody film. It really was shocking!

Decent film but I find it lacks a re-watch appeal entirely.

And eh....The Patriot is set almost one hundred years before the American Civil War so...not sure where the discussion about that is coming from. :)

:o You can really tell that I didn't doze during most of this film, can't you...?

Did you not even like Heath? He's dead now therefore making all his performances excellent.

Personally I wouldn't let Roland Emmerich direct traffic. He's even worse than Michael Bay. At least Bay deliberately makes crap.

Ermm....... The Patriot was the 'War of Independance', almost 100 years before the Civil War :p

Anyway, yeah the film was complete balls, another 'Hollywood' version of history, Mel kicks the British out of America with his band of freedom fighters, etc etc.

I liked parts of it, the scene where he trades straw men to the General was well done. And I liked the battlefield scenes with the canonballs skipping along. Wouldn't have much interest in rewatching though unless I was bored.

Ah now, that's hardly fair. Michael Bay does a great job at what he does, making populist, popcorn, event movies.
    Transformers was a great movie.
