    Hello everyone,

I'm just after a little holiday where I re-discovered the joy of swimming. Now I'm back and I would like to take it up as a hobby, basically to do something to stay fit.
I live in Chapelizod and am looking for a pool nearby. Does anyone know where there'd be one close by?

    Cheers,
    mC.

oh wow, that's really close. Thanks jph100!
Another question: would the place get scummy? Basically, can a girl go by herself and it's all safe and ok and clean?

Yeah, stewarts is a good pool, its run by the hospital.
They do alot of classes for both the public and the hospital, so "open" sessions are always available, ring up or call in to get a timt table

Its a fine pool. Only problem with it, is the temp of water, being essentially a hospital pool, its far too warm. And also the shallow end is particularily shallow. Not a great pool to be doing a 3,000 metre session !

Well yeah during the day its a leisue pool, mostly for treatment,
during in the mornings the water is very cold, perfect for those 3000m sessions :D
I don't find the shalow end an issue, its .9m iirc

In addition to Stewarts's Hospital in Palmerstown, there is the King's Hospital swimming pool and the Sheldon Park Hotel Leisure Club on Kylemore Road (McDonald's end). Although you have to have gym membership to use the Sheldon Park facilities.
Also, don't forget about the new pool and leisure/sports complex due to open in Ballyfermot soon.

It really depends how tall you are. I could only swim between half and three quarter lengths as I'd hit the pool floor with my fingers at times in the shallow end.

Please note that the King's Hospital is a private boarding school, and not open to the general public. There are swimming lessons there for minors at the weekends, but not for adults.
