Does anyone know of any mountain biking competitions for beginners in the dublin area (the closer to howth the better).

There is a race in Djouce today. Most races have a 'sports' category for beginners.

There are number of races on during the summer, but most in Wicklow/South Dublin - there are also a few in the North, Munster & Connaught.
