Driver problem/query with different balls

I am having a slight problem with my driving with driver which I am wondering why it is happening.

If I use say a top flight (standard) one or something similar I can hit the ball very straight hit nearly every fairway and strike of the club face feels great.

If I use a softball (Callaway HX Red) I can't seem to hit it is aswell or as straight. A lot more heading into the rough.

I am using R580 driver stiff shaft.

Has anyone ever heard of this or had a similar problem?

I prefer the softer ball for hitting into green and around the greens but if not hitting good drives makes the game a lot harder to play as always fighting for a par and maybe walking of bogey instead of thinking par and maybe birdie.

    Thanks

The softer ball will spin more and as a result any sidespin will be exaggerated, meaning it is less likely to go straight.

Above post is correct imo. Totally agree.

    Thanks.

I understand the more spin but didn't think it would be that much

Maybe try something like the burner tp ball?
I always use a soft ball, particularly hate the feel of anything else when putting...
    New TaylorMade Burner TP

Combines awesome distance with tour-caliber bite and great feel
HPF 1000 SpeedMantle169 boosts ball speed while limiting driver-spin and increasing iron-spin
342-dimple Low-Drag Performance (LDP) aerodynamics improves distance on off-center hits
Iothane cover feels soft, spins great and resists shearing, scuffing and scarring
Tour performance at an incredible value
    Expected retail price of $24.99

Mc Guirks charging €35 a box
