Buy Mac From Where?

    Hey Guys,

    I going buying a new MBP/ipod Touch and was wondering can/should I buy it from the online US store as given the weak dollar, Id save hundreds...

    Was just wondering if you gurus know if you can do this from ireland and what are the catches...

    ie. US power cable/dvd region/do they deliver/irish tax

    seems to good an option to be true :-)

    You can't ship from the mac store in the US to Ireland

    Yup and all electronics are subject to a hefty tax. So even if they did ship, you wouldn't want to do it.

    If you have family there that can send it to you as a gift, even if you do get charged vat + import duty 25% or so, it would still be a lot cheaper than buying it form Ireland as $2000 is only 1275 euro atm :eek:

    You can also use on of the hundrerd of parcel forwarding services that give you a US postal box and then ship the stuff to you, it would be more expensive than having a friend send it, but some of the sites are reasonable..

    Also, you could save a hell of a lot more money by buying a PC, but thats just me :D
