Varicocele + Running

    Hey all,

I have varicocele (abnormal enlargement of the veins in the scrotum draining the testicles) in my left scrotum. (Been to a specialist who diagnosed it in 2006).

I do quite a bit of running. I now intend to embark on marathon training this summer, although while I have run a marathon before the varicocele had not developed at that stage. Just wondering if execessive running will strain it too much?

    Cheers.

your really going to need to talk to the specialist you saw in 2006 about this one. Varicoele's can come in different shapes and sizes, so seeing as they've seen yours and we haven't, they're going to be the best bet for advice.

Good luck with the marathon training though, if your allowed do it, the varicoele might be the last of your worries ;)

Well, in fairness, I doubt the specialist will know off the top of his head. Maybe call ahead and give him time to research it?
