hi i tend do get paranoid about things so i was wonderin if anyone out there may have a answer??

"is it possible to get pregant by being fingered??"

im worried about this because lst nite i was "fooling around" with my boyfriend and i made him come, but then e did me but i feel there may been a slight possibilty there was some cum on his fingers before he did me.

is it true that the bacteria on your fingers kills it?? if there was any it was a very small amount more like a smuge cos the cum lets say did land all over him........

sorry for too much detail but its kinda revelent for the story....

"is it possible to get pregant by being fingered??"
If there is semen nearby, then yes.

No, the bacteria is unlikely to kill the semen.

150,000,000 sperm - only one needed.

QFT. It might not be the easiest way to get pregnant, but it is possible. If you're really concerned that you may be pregnant, emergency contraception might be worth considering. I suppose the lesson to take from this is that if you're doing this again, either get him to wash his hands if he's going to be touching you, or use a condom.

Yes, you can get pregnant by being fingered if he has semen on his hands.

Likewise, you can also get pregnant by a bloke coming outside or near your vagina, so if giving him a hand job or what have you then coming on your fanjita or even its environs (i.e. inner thighs, lower belly) is not a good idea. Sperm on skin can live for several hours so you have to be vigilant.

You get an itch so you scratch, moving semen around. Or you go to the bathroom and in the process of wiping you move semen around. Or you take your clothes off and move the semen around. Should I keep going?

Hand touches semen on thigh. Hand then touches vagina.....

The little spermies have tails as well remember. If a woman is very sexually aroused then mucus is present OUTSIDE the vagina as well, the sperm stick to this mucus like glue and off they go on their travels. May sound ridiculous Ciaran500 but it CAN happen. So even if people are vigilant and using condoms correctly etc "fooling around" can very definitley cause pregnancy. Not scaremongering, facts are facts.

Just on a sidenote as well OP, whether engaging in sexual intercourse or not you should start making a note every month on a calendar of exactly when the first date of your period is every month. I'm 30 and it still never ceases to amaze me the amount of women who don't know exactly where they are in their cycle.

Why are you engaging in sexual activities if you don't know what will or won't make you pregnant ?

Well in fairness it's not always possible for some women to know "exactly where they are" due to not being regular ;)

For instance, I'm anything between 26 and 33 days, which is a whole week's difference. Ok, not hugely significant, but it can be significant enough.

Aye, microgirl (and men may want to look away at this next part) but even if your cycle is uneven, if you tune in to your body you can figure out when you're ovulating. Mucus will change in thickness and consistency and you can also get period-type pains around ovulation - even a couple of achy twinges can be enough to give you a heads up. And even if your cycle is uneven, it should be pretty close to 14 days after your ovulate that you menstruate - so in other words, even women with a 50 day cycle will menstruate 14 days after ovulation.

I think that's where some girls can get the planning around their cycle wrong - in a 28 day cycle, you are most likely to conceive if you have sex on days 12, 13, 14, 15, 16 and so on. In a 44 day cycle, you should be most fertile around day 29, 30, 31, 32, 33 etc. This is on the basis that sperm can swim around 1-3cm per hour, so it takes them a while to get all the way up the fallopean tubes to reach an egg to be fertilised - answers range but 24 hours seems a good bet, and they can live for a few days. The 'ideal' conception is to have an egg released to waiting sperm, subsequently sex 24-48 hours before you ovulate is optimal to conception.

In a way, I think the "you can get pregnant at any time during your cycle" lesson, while useful for putting the fear of god into young women and ensuring they use precautions, is also very misleading. It leads to assumptions that, for instance, you can get pregnant during your period because that's when your're fertile. Instead of qualifying the statement by saying "You can get pregnant at any time during your cycle, because sometimes your cycle will change without you realising, and there will be an egg waiting to be fertilised when you don't realise there is one, and sometimes your ovaries can both release an egg at once, and sometimes you will have sex with someone whose sperm is extra specially feisty and can survive for seven days, and sometimes when you're having your period there can be a second egg that was released at an odd time that's already on its way down the tubes", it leads to this mythological belief that female fertility is in fact all-encompassing and plotting ovulation is a black art involving the charting of the moons of Jupiter.

Sometimes I wonder if they taught teenaged girls about their fertility in schools to the depth that they teach women trying to conceive (mucus, temperature, body changes, so on) would there be less unplanned pregnancy? Or more risk-taking schoolgirls letting their boyfriends ride bareback because they think it's safe?

The problem being that unless you have ovulation symptoms (i never have) you don't know when you were ovulating until your next period arrives. Not everyone gets symptoms. I've always had very irregular periods , some months i have a 20 day cycle, other months its 35 days.

    Ah, in fairness folks!
OP you can get pregnant like that.

...but it's very unlikely. I'd imagine, if what you describes is accurate, you'd have about as much chance of being pregnant as winning the lotto.
    Sleep sound tonight, you're grand*.

I know Zulu but unlikely and possible is the same thing. It CAN happen which is what the OP asked in the first place.

Something tells me she more interested in "likely" now she knows it's "possible" :)

    Balieys & Ice - if you're under 25 I'll give you 1:2; 26-30 I'll give you 3:2; 30-35, 4:1 and 35 + 8:1. How does that sound ;)

Here's one for ya. :rolleyes:Seeing as I am neither Mystic Meg nor a family planning doctor I really couldn't tell you. What I WILL tell you is that if you are old and "mature" enough to be having sex and taking the contraceptive pill then I think it probably best that you read the fupping instructions before taking any medication. If you take antibiotics whilst on the pill it very clearly states that it harms the effectiveness of the pill and that extra contraception, i.e. barrier, should be used 7 days after the completion of your antibiotics course (and continue with your next packet if necessary). So what are your chances? Probably very high if you continue to take risks like that imho.

thank you. you've just taught me never to trust a girl who says she's on the pill so i don't need a condom

Baileys & Ice the chances are extremly likely!!! Been there, done that and got pregnant!
Except the doctor said that what i was taking wouldnt effect the pill!!

OP and Baileys and Ice, You both need to go and get the morning after pill. Now.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 10,967 ✭✭✭✭Zulu

I taught the Morning after pill was a very harsh thing to take? and should only be taken about twice?? Was some one winding me up???

The OP is grand ffs. She doens't need the morning after pill. As for Baileys and Ice - she doesn't appear to care.

If she was any way serious she wouldnt have put in the smiley faces!!
It is quite serious when you become pregnant and you do need to be careful. i had a miscarriage but we havent made the same mistake again and i went back to the doctor and informed him of his lack of information!!
The morning after pill is harsh on your body it is like a mini abortion but when it is needed it is needed.
