These are not good enough for an Irish Army uniform.

Try here: if you want :
    name tags €5

    Silver Stitch Embroidery
    Unit 1
    Block V
    Ballymount Industrial Estate
    Walkinstown
    Dublin 12

    Telephone: 01 4505244
    Fax: 01 4564869

    email: silsti@indio.ie

However you will be issued your name tags in due course (may take over a year).

Compare the name tags the previous poster suggested with the DF ones such as the ones in the link to the picture below (too big resolution for posting)-do you see a dramatic difference? You will get shouted out of it on parade or camp for using incorrect tags...long enough did the FCÁ look like a motley crew with no standard uniform lets not bring it into the new Reserve imo

Wear the correct name tags or wear none, don't mean to come across strong but the ones suggested are nothing like the DF ones-may as well turn up in a civvie combat style jacket instead of your smock!!

Best of luck with it anyway, I was lucky enough that my brother is in the PDF so that's how I got mine, could be waiting a very long time for those bloody name tags

For your information, them Tags are perfectly fine for the Irish Uniform. I wouldn't have posted them other wise.

In my 14 years (so Far) service(PDF) I've seen plenty of non issue Tags and there has never been a problem once they have an Olive Green backround and black lettering.

Have you ever seen Name tags with the Tri-colour?? their Non issue and perfectly acceptable..

Yea but you know the FCA lads - ***cought***- RDF lads, they can be anal about this sort of stuff.

(only joking re. the FCA comment kinda)

For the record. I've nametags I had made oversea's and which I wear regularly.

We can arrange your name badges, etc, and have them posted out to anywhere in the country. We're getting some samples this week to work from and match material, and we should be able to improve on the quality.

Find us at www.astitchintime.ie, or call Sarah on (01) 236 0474

CS as endearing as it is that you can admit that you were once an ignorant member of the RDF you should realise that you are now an ignorant member of the PDF. It's young soldiers like you that are the reason there is such a divide between the reservists and the PDF. Sure there is some people in there who are weekend warriors but we have plenty of them in the PDF too and we have plenty of idiots in the PDF and there is plenty of people in the RDF who could make fine members of the PDF one day if they choose to. I suppose basically what I'm trying to say is cop on to yourself.

Not if expressing those opinions will cause offence to other members of this forum, and yours clearly will.

Now I'm not going to play word games here about this.

You got an infraction, next time you over step the mark you'll be banned. And its really that simple.

If its an issue with nametags then surely Q branch should be getting to the bottom of this problem.
I haven't commented on anything RDF for a while, and I am PDF, but surely getting a list of the names of people in your unit can be done from a nominal role or the ROs. Then this list could be submitted to a company, i.e. astitchintime, and then everyone would have their tags.
This should be paid for by your unit, as its routine that we all have name tags. In the PDF it is.

A lot of the bad stuff I hear about the RDF are excuses, and a lot of the problems in it seem to stem from laziness by people at a higher rank. The above is an exercise in common sense.
Someone posted earlier about name tags being acceptable once they are green and black...that's true because there are different variations on nametags out there. And nothing ever gets said once they are green and black.

CS, the reason for the "spiel" as you put is to get my point across which simply could not have been done by telling you to cop on to yourself and as for your opinion. Your entitled to it with out a doubt but you might consider how you will word it so as to not offend anyone here as already said to you.

Sorry for the off topic chat Mairt.

As for name tags once they are olive green with black letters I wouldn't see a problem with it although I do think it a disgrace that soldiers should have to buy a piece of kit that is so basic as a name tag get onto your cadre about it and see if they can do anything for you... My two cents on the matter.

Right lads, I think the OP is well up to speed re. name tags.

The thread is decending into a cluster fvcker thanks to CS and his stupid idea's that he can freely express opinions on the internet.

    So I'm closing this one.

    Locked.
