Here is a start anyway. It disables the right click.

You could also put a unobtrusive watermark on the picture...

There's absolutely no way of stopping people from copying pictures from your web site if they want to do so. You can annoy them with a script like Ruu suggested, but that's all it will do - annoy them. There's always a way around those scripts (e.g.: disabling javascript in the browser, using the Print Screen key, choosing "Save Page As" under the File menu or searching their browsers cache - chances are your pictures are there if they've viewed them on the web).

yeah watermark is really your only option. If people can see the picture, they can take it. Disabling right click is only a nuisance as the person can still just drag the picture to the tab and have it open in a new window which doesn't have right click disabled. Also even if you make your site flash or something so that they can't even drag and drop picture they can still take a printscreen of it. Your best bet is to not show images larger than 640x480.

Also, is the problem you are having in regard to people hotlinking your images, or are you just worried about people taking copies of them?

EDIT: damn you Bard ... should learn to not leave a tab unrefreshed

It's impossible to stop people from saving images from your website. A sufficiently talented and determined person WILL break whatever system you put in, even it if it means hitting Print Screen, pasting the contents into Mspaint and saving it as a Jpeg.

Watermarking is the only real deterrent.

If you have firefox you can just set it to not allow websites to disable the right click menu. Bam, right click save as :D

Indeed, the Sky News website doesn't allow right-click so when I wanted an image the other day, I just saved the page to my C: drive, opened it on my C: drive and the right-click protection was gone. It's really simple. Unfortunately, ther's no easy way to stop it and even watermarking is not a gaurantee that people won't download it. Photoshop can do great stuff to watermarks...

I can right-click on that. Firefox with NoScript enabled. TBH its a waste of time trying to stop people. Just use a watermark with your name/site on it.
