What would be the best solution using VOIP or other. For having teleworkers sharing the same phone system. So one can take calls from the same number, when the other is out. Or is this simple a matter of transfer number type of functionality? Or put it anotherway that a few teleworkers in different locations can share support of the same phone line.

As long as your teleworkers have decent quality broadband connections then what you want is easy to do with Blueface (and probably other SIP suppliers), you have one account with multiple SIP accounts and can set up rules to handle which calls go where.

Give them a shout and explain what you need.

Trouble, try this test a few times and see how you go.

It not just for my house but for a couple of others aswell. We don't all have the same BB provider. My BB is NTL and its always been a patchy. That VOIP test shows a problem with Jitter 18.9ms and QoS 2%. It changes everytime, some times I get some packet loss aswell. When I used Blueface before and also when I play games at the moment, I can have random problems with lag, lost packets etc.

The problem is constant though. Seems worse at peak times.

Currently using the NTL VOIP phone. I assume it would get priority on NTL and so far its been ok. Sometimes quality is like a mobile connections or speakerphone. But then sometimes its better than the land line.

    Hi,
I currently have software developers on remote sites (Athy, Cork, Tramore and Bray) using VoIP on ATA devices. The Tramore guy even works in Paris when visiting his in-laws. Each one has a phone number in the same range with a Cork (021) dial code. It works very well.

I've tested the QoS when heavy downloads are being done and all seems fine so far. We're each using different BB providers i.e BT, Eircom and Verizon (formerly Worldcom). The VoIP provider is BroadTalk.

We use a web tool to bounce calls along the call list. We've been using it for about 8 months so far and there's been no major complaints. We had to change a router setting on each ATA as we had QoS issues initially, but the change resolved the problem.

It's definitely the way to go. It saves me a fortune on office rent and all the guys work from their spare room. We even conference call for project meetings.
