If so could you explain the following. Why does the GPO only except laser cards from AIB and not from BOI.I queued up for twenty minutes today to get a postal order only to be told,"sorry we don't take BOI Laser, only AIB.I had to go and find an ATM machine and queue up for another 15 minutes.
Now I wasn't annoyed or anything,I just found it very amusing. You go
to any petrol station in the country and they except Laser but the biggest post office in the country doesn't. Well it does but only from AIB and if you go in to the parcel and registered post section, they don't even take that.

In fairness, you've learned a life lesson. Become stronger because of it.

    AIB ftw.

I'd be annoyed tbh. Wouldn't be surprised if it's because of some fees squabble between BOI & An Post.

More than likely. OP - complain and see what happens. That's if you have cash to buy a stamp with  because complaint emails tend to be 'lost' in the system.

AIB and An Post have some kind of arrangement. I think AIB may even run the Post Offices 'banking' services completely

That'd be Fortis Bank methinks. Not to say that AIB don't have a major holding in Fortis.

I wasn't being facetious in my earlier post. It is a life lesson in that AIB probably spend a chunk each year in ensuring that your BOI card works in as few places as possble. Capitalism wins every time.

I do however believe that a state run company should not be allowed be 'bought' in this manner, but who am I only a tax payer.

You would say that... Mr. Taxpayer ;)

At least they take Lazer, I discovered after queueing for fiftenn minutes that they don't take credit cards at all, not even AIB credit cards.

Maybe you should ask BOI?

    AIB FTW! :D
