the gear they showed seems impressive, do the PDF train with the M03? or is that for show only? 2.5k only to equip a solider? looking at that stuff i would imagine it to be more...

One guy mentioned that they were perhaps better equipped than some of our neighbours after talking about the Steyr. Was he referring to the British rifle (SA80) or was he just talking in general or was he just waffling!?

Not Waffeling, We have just come through a major re-equipment program(Personal Issue Kit) that would be on par or in some case's better than other Western Countries.

The(back) Packs and Battle vest you saw tonight are all made by lowe Alpine.. So they did go all out to get us the best gear.

The 203 is a Section Weapon, so Yes it is on issue.

With reference to my first comment, We are as international as they come now, with working/Training with others Armies.. So we can compare our equipment with them.

Is the day pack available to buy in a similar pattern to the Irish pattern DPM given that its made by a fairly well known civvy company?

I doubt it.. All Issue Packs both the Day Pack and Main Pack(Lowe Alpine Saracen) are branded with the DF insignia, the Sunburst/FF.

Is there a name on the daypack? (i.e. Main pack is Saracen)

Its just that if the army have gone to such lengths to find that its the best one going, I wouldnt mind getting an OG or different DPM one of the same model in a shop.

I'm delighted that the lads and girls going to Chad have good equipment. Its important for morale apart from everything else.

Sabre.. you can get the two types in an out door shop(OD or Brit DPM) but your looking at big Bucks;)
