I think over my life i'd be up both live and online. Neither by huge amounts. I'm far more confident about my online play though.

Sorry OP, you seem to have forgotten to include an Atari Jaguar option like all proper boards polls should have, so I slotted it in there for you. Hope that was OK.

    What he said.

Have done pretty well online, live I'm probably down thanks to drunken trips to a cardroom, excluding them I'm probably up a slight bit.

Better player online, though in the middle of an ultra sick downswing at the moment on my new super duper secret account.
    Running better live

    online, no where near close

Very rarely play live but I'd be up from a couple of small tourny scores

I think my average cash is probably higher live (run good obv!) but volume makes online winner overall.

I find live poker way harder than online poker that is filled with terrible players, but for some unknown reason I make more money in live tournaments....I just can't figure out the logic behind that though.

I've been much more successful live compared to online. Id cite 3 main reasons for this.
    1. Live play attracts much more fish than online.
    2. You're presented with much more information in live games and so I find my decision making much more accurate.
    3. I fiind it much more difficult to exercise tilt control when playing online.

Id be interested to hear rhe opinions of the online winners as to why they think they're more successful in cyberspace.
    Cheers,
    Conor

Definitely live, although my total live play is only 8 or 9 donkaments I made 4 final tables and am up about 80%. The reason I'm so bad online is simple. TILT. And I'm so good live is because I know the dealers real well.
Playing live when your buddy calls down your bluff and busts you, you have an hour to drive home, it's much more calming then opening up 4 $10 cash tables online and losing it all in the space of 5 minutes, like when my Aces were cracked ........ sorry Ste, what's that? The bad beat sticky? Well I was just going to tell what happe .... bad beat sticky! right, but if I can just ... bad beat sticky! yeah, gotcha, but I only want to expl ... OK! OK! I GET IT ... BAD BEAT STICKY !!!!! sheesh .... give a guy a uniform ....

The main one for me is that i can play about a weeks worth of live hands in an hour.

I'd be up a good bit in both. I way prefer online though, even though live is so much easier simply cos of the boredom factor. You only play like 20 hands an hour compared to >500. Its just so soul destroying as well! Can be fun if you have a fun table but fair balls to live grinders for sticking it out.

All that being said, I haven't really played either much in a couple of months!

Some of us find online much more soul destroying! Or at least harder to give sufficient attention to, no matter how many tables I have going I cannot resist the temptation to surf the interweb and play flash games, etc! With live play, I can listen to the banter and find it fascinating to watch people play and wrestle with decisions at the table.

I'm up way more live than online for the reasons Conbro outlined, although I don't really tilt in either medium.

The main reason imo is because you can break up your days play into say 3 1-2 hour sessions and be fresh and focused for each one. I assume the live regs start at 9 or 10 and play straight until 5 or 6. By 3 o clock I'm fairly knackered and spew off any profit I may have made. I just think it's so much easier to tilt live when your playing only 1 table at a rate of 20 hands per hour.

Also, regarding having more info live I don't think i agree. Of course you have the added benefit of physical tells etc but there's no way you can keep detailed stats like you have available online. If I was playing live I'd prefer to play a statue with his vpip/pfr/af by street/att to steal/ etc painted on his head rather than some dude with a box of oreos.

Each to their own I guess, although I do enjoy the social aspect of live play.
