Sold an item on Ebay a few weeks ago and the seller has contacted me claiming not to have received it yet! Now they may be 200% honest but I'm airing on the side of caution! Was sent by standard mail so no tracking number!

    Anyone have any advice?

Did you keep the postage reciept? How much did you sell the item for? what sort of feedback does the buyer have (many purchases?).

I think there is a form they can fill out in their local post office to claim something that was lost in the post.

    Thanks for your quick reply.

I do have a recipt but only saying a package was sent to UK and stating the cost because it was sent by standard mail. Item only sold for €3.00. Can I start a claim for something being lost in the post? She does have a lot of feedback with 99% positive so I have no reason to doubt her!

There's no recourse with the Post office, since it was unregistered. You'll also have to refund the buyer as you can't prove it was sent/received and any dispute will go in favor of the buyer.

If you cant prove they got it, Im afraid any claim will go their way. Ive had this happen a good few times (about 10, tbh) on items too cheap to bother tracking. Its one of the reasons I no longer sell really cheap items on ebay, I was getting caught like this too much.

So you either refund, send another item, and/or take a neg.

Talk about a buyer's market! Ah well, I'll leave it another couple of days and then offer to refund the buyer! Some people state on their auctions, that they are not responsible for items after they post them, but I can't see this statement covering them in all honesty!

No, it doesn't. Probably works on some people who don't know though.
