It seems like there's not going to be any updates this week or next week due to the impending big fancy PS Store overhaul. :(

It looks like I'll just have to make do with the v1.3 Warhawk update and GT5P then.

It's a shame tho, I was getting used to them being so regular. :)

Looks like the Singstore, which is fantastic, if a little slow at times.

Looks good but is it smooth or does it take ages to load like the other one?

Its not like the content they release on the PSN Store is usually good enough to be missed for a couple of weeks.

They can make it as pretty as they like, still won't matter until they start getting some serious volumes of quality content.

The current store runs through a web browser. The updated store will run through an application in firmware 2.30 so it should be way quicker to navigate.

I can live without the weekly update for a few weeks. 90% are disappointments.

I often wondered why the current store is so slow, especially opening. I would have thought that the majority of content on the page which never changes could be held in a cache for quick loading, it seems to download all the content every time. Very inefficient imo

Web browsers and software in general is not Sonys strong suit.

Anyone else notice how similar it looks to the xbox live arcade system :)

Well I don't mind as long as they start bringing out some more content worth downloading and stop pricing things a x.99 euro and only allowing you to add amounts in multiples of 5 on to your account

I'd also like to be able to play the PAL Kula World I payed for on my american PS3 considering the fact that I paid for it. Absolutely stupid on their part that it doesn't automatically change to PAL output or that you can't select it in the options.

The Japanese store has over 150 Ps1 games. How many do we have? 15?

Also Sony pictures owns the rights for tons of tv and movies. Put some of it up there.

Exactly. Unless they're finally going to add some worthwhile content, they're just making work for themselves.

Apparently attempts to work out a licensing agreement fell through rather quickly.

I don't see why they don't make the store more like the XMB layout, since that works really well and would surely be well suited for scrolling through different categories and their content.

Well, after a while hoping something good might happen with the Ps3 i am generally pretty pissed off. Wtf is the story, theres nothing worthwhile there. And after hearing that the Warhawk update is going to cost me a tenner im just stumped. Thanks Retro.

The only things they are going to bring out from now until the store is complete is Pain and some other crap. Two things....brilliant. And all the glory of their previous content. Glorious indeed.

It just goes to show the Quality after the purchase. There is none. The only thing i like and look forward to are GTA, Warhawk and MGS4. I bought UT3 during the week and own Resistance, Ratchet and Assassins Creed. Disappointed with all except Assassins creed which i have yet to bother completing. UT3 servers are a joke. Warhawk seems to be the best offering the PS3 has.

Whens Home coming out? Wheres the Tv, Movies, Emulators etc? No Ps2 software emulation? What a crock. Fail methinks.

This isnt just a new store coming out, The whole playstation network is changing, The playstation forums will use your psn account from when this launches (before you had to sign up separate to their website), and things are pointing toward better integration across the whole network.

That to me, shows that the whole playstation brand is shifting toward online gaming, before it was seen as an off-line platform. With home coming things are looking good for the whole online on the ps3.
Web browsers and software in general is not Sonys strong suit.

Sony didnt make the web browser, The web browser was made by a company that specialises in web browsers for mobile devices. You wouldnt think it though.

They have decided to get a custom store made that works with the buttons on the controller better. You wont be moving a mouse courser around anymore, you will be doing all the browsing of the store with the square, triangle, circle and x buttons. Its better if they came up with their own system for this.

The system its based on, is pretty highly rated and comes in singstar.

All in all, i dont see why they would have to copy the xbox system, as they can come up with a unique method that works well for the ps3.

it probably doesn't feel like it just yet, but I'm hopeful that this will be the start of a really strong run for the PS3 that's going to cement it's reputation.

with home and some really good exclusive games on the way in the next few months sony have a realistic shot at earning back some of the respect they've lost recently.

lets just hope they've learned from their mistakes and don't fluff it up. :D

Wild guess: they don't want to compete with Blu Ray. They want the PS3 to boost BluRay disc sales. Now the the format war is done, perhaps they'll lighten up.
