I'd love to try caving in Ireland some weekend. I've little experience. Is it possible to hire a guide and gear anywhere in Ireland? I've searched the web, but can only find information for serious cavers.

    Hi mountaingoat.
Which county do you live in? Most caving is in Cork, Clare and Fermanagh. People head from dublin to all these areas though. Most caving clubs in the country are based around universities. Have you ever been to university? If not no worries we will figure out some way to get you underground.

    Hi David,

Thanks for your reply. I live in Dublin. I been to UCD, but am finished college now.

It is just something I'd like to try some weekend, but probably wouldn't take up the sport. I've no experience with ropes and I don't own any gear. But I've crawled around caves in Budapest before and really enjoyed it.

So what I'd need to do is get in contact with one of the university clubs and see if they have any beginner trips?

UCD have a club they can drag you along on a trip. Do not worry trips start easy enough and then you can learn ropes and stuff then if you want to. PM me and I will give you proper details.
