Just wondering does anyone have any suggestions for a decent hotel in Bangkok? Been looking around and can see quite a lot of them for cheap but would much rather have someones else view/expierience on them first.

Looking for cheap hotel (i.e. <= €20 a night) in centre or as near as possible of bangkok (its a backpacker trip so will be hostels, park benchs etc the rest of trip) so want a decent place to rest and plan for a few nights before setting out on the rest of journey.

Any suggestion would be greatly appreciated as will be booking it this weekend.

I was going to recommend Suk 11, but it might be a bit backerpackery for you!

Its basic, but clean, rooms have air con and ensuite and your near the sky train.

I've also stayed at the Asia hotel, which was o.k. but a bit far away from anything interesting.

To be honest most of the hotels are pretty good as long as you choose a 4* one.... just try and choose one near the night markets.

Yeah Suk11 is a nice friendly place - clean rooms, great location. You can't really beat it for that price.

Thanks Dinkie will have a look into that place. Seems nice location too and easy access from airport is always a plus. Should get me used to bumming around for rest of the year.

Will have another look around at other hotel as still have 3 weeks before I leave but Suk11 seems like a handy and very cheap option.

It does book up very quickly so I'd make reservations sooner rather than later!

    Hey

We stayed in Bangkok at the start of our trip and wanted to do the nice hotel thing as well. I know you are looking for 20 euro or less, but for 40 euro you can stay in Centre Point Petchburi. Its luxury for 40 euro. Its in a good safe location. If its out of your price range then no worries, I just thought I’d let you know. Here is a link to it on Wotif.com where you can book it really cheaply. Enjoy the trip!

we stayed in the asiahotel which was pretty central, theres a monorail station next to the hotel and the mbk centre is just a few mins walk down the road too. can't remember what we paid but it was pretty cheap

Since very good hotels are available in Bangkok for about 45-50 euro a night would you consider splashing out? I stayed at the Bel-Aire princess on Soi 5 right beside Nana BTS station. Great hotel and treated like a king for 50 quid a night, cheaper if sharing.
