    No basically.

AFAIK, and I am basing my knowledge on O2 here, you cant even block one which is not anon.

I saw some service advertised on TV before where you paid a weekly subscription and they stopped private numbers going to your phone.
No idea who it was but am pretty sure the ads are on TV3.

I saw that. I would like to know on what basis it works?

my old samsung d500 could block numbers, use wild cards and block all private numbers. They got a busy tone. There was a modified firmware also that could block sms. Well the phone recieved it, just the user wasn't notified and the sms was disguarded.

Have a look in your manual for things like call barring, some phones support it.

All calls are diverted through their system, if a caller id doesnt show up then a message is played saying that "this phone does not accept calls from private numbers, please turn on your caller id and ring again" and obviously all calls with id are let through with no interferance
