Blackberry & data tariffs

I am looking at possibly getting a blackberry curve on O2. In carphone warehouse today they told me I could get a 10MB or 25MB data plan and use that and still get push mail. I thought you could only use the proper blackberry tariff but can someone confirm this for me

In theory you can have Blackberry provisioned and be charged for data as you use it but O2 won't let you go with this.

You need to get the €20 per month (ex VAT) tarriff from them to support Blackberry.
