iPoker vs PS standard of play and main differences

I just switched from iPoker to Pokerstars a couple of days ago as I could no longer stand all the iPoker related disconnection problems, although I loved the iPoker layout and games.

I only played 12 games (20$-30$ SNG) so far on PS but it looks to me that the standard of play is way better on PS….on iPoker I have the following Sharkscope statistics: 22% ROI across 215 games and 7$ average game/profit on Av Stake of 26$ and ITM% of 41% ….on Pokerstars I only cashed twice in 12 games which is really bad taking into consideration that the tables a 9-players rather than 10 players.....if I keep going like this I am going to get the Fish :D.... I know 12 games is a ridiculously small sample to give a judgment, however what I noticed is that the game is not as fishy as iPoker….at a standard iPoker table there are usually 2-3 awful players, 4-5 average players and 2-3 good players, so it is not difficult to have a profit long term, however I haven’t seen such a high % of bad players on PS in the games I played yet (I played 30$ SNG) and there are some big winning SNG players (I haven’t seen many “Star” player on iPoker 30$ SNG)

Also on PS players are more inclined to fold to pre-flop raises (even small raises of 2-3 times the BB), whereas on iPoker small raises of 2-3 BB are called most of the times even with trash hands…..is this due to the design of the software? Probably iPoker chips looks “lighter” and easier to put in the pot comparing to PS chips? J

I would appreciate if you could post here some other differences you noticed between the two standard type of players and some useful advices so I can adjust my game to perform better on PS.

to keep it simple, players on PS are much better than on ipoker, too many fish on ipoker, that can be a good thing & a bad thing, PS is probably best for SNG, FTP for cash games.

there should be a similar amount of Star players and Fish players, they just all play worse on iPoker.

Stars players are tighter imo. Downgrade the big score and try and hoover up lots of small pots. There's still a lot of bad players on stars though.

ye the standard on stars defnitly seems to be higher at all games cash, sng and mtts. this is well known. theres a couple of guys on ipoker and pacific with rois over a decent sample size that are impossible to maintain on stars. wouldnt turn me off stars though best site in the world by a long long way imo

Thank you for your replies...what I don't understand is why would a poker room have better poker players than others? And more importantly why would a good player prefer to play against other good players rather than bad ones? Of course playing against other good players will decrease the number of bad beats you get, but surely in the long run it is better to play against bad players if you are there to make $$$....

My only reason for switching is due to the fact that with PS I have no connection problems, and will give it 150-200 games before taking a decision whether staying sticking with it or not, but surely if I see no profit I will have no reason to keep playing on PS when I could be making money elsewhere....

Its part of the fallout from UIGEA isn't it, American players can only play on Stars and FT.
And the supply of bad American players drops as they are less inclined to jump through the hoops required to deposit.

ye ur right profits would be higher on other sites against poorer players but there are a number of reasons alot of full timers including myself play there. as u said the software is excellent no discons etc. there fpp system i think is very good once ur supernova or elite. the customer support is great. but the main reason i play there is the traffic. im just about to start 9-12 tabling the $100-$200 sngs at this time of day there is no other site u would be able to that. what im trying to say is if i played 1000 $100 sngs on ipoker and 1000 on stars im pretty sure my profit would be higher on ipoker but it doesnt mean its more profitable for me to play on ipoker. if that makes any sense to u. sounds strange i know but defnitly true

I play mtts/cash on both and I Poker is faaaaaaaaaaaaaar softer. But for me their schedule is bad (i play midnight after work usually when the schedule/traffic on I Poker is bad), If i worked a 9-5 i'd prob play I poker a lot more even though the software tilts me. You definetly have to adjust big time when moving between sites though. The structures are far better on stars. Another thing to note in Tourneys/SNG's is you have a lot more fold equity on Stars then I Poker. Fro what I've seen over the last week, KQ and KJsooted are effectively treated as the Bullets on IPoker.
