COD4 Sniping Problem

Hey Folks,

I've been playing multiplayer on COD4 and having a great time. I'm currently about level 29 and I've just noticed a problem the last day or two when I'm sniping. Basically I can't stop breathing to take an accurate shop. It's never been a problem before and seems to just have surfaced recently.

Has anyone else experianced this issue? It's really annoying.

maybe try a different sniper rifle and see if the problem persists

A fine point and something I didn't think of. I'll give that a whirl later on this evening.

How did you get on?

Is your 6-axis controller working properly? Didn't notice any problems myself last night when I was sniping on pipeline.

Same thing unfortunately. I had no problem with the M40A3 or the Dragunov but my weapon of choice when I'm sniping is the M21 and that's the weapon I'm having problems with.
Yeah my sixaxis is working fine as I haven't had any issue's with the other sniper rifles and when I was 'testing' the problem I was having in a Lan game it was working fine, letting me stop breathing etc. So it's only with the M21 and only online.

just don't use a sniper rifile if you were any good you wouldn't need to.

Wow that's great, thanks very much for a wonderfully helpful reply. Wouldn't need too eh? You'd better get onto pretty much every military in the world and tell them their snipers are no good.

I pretty much use the M4 most of the time with the red dot sight but certain levels are fun with the sniper rifle such as 'Overgrown' and 'Pipeline' so I would like to be able to use it from time to time.

Its a bit of an odd problem alrite when it just effects the one gun . I hate using the M21 i find the M40A3 or R700 much better .

I didn't personally like the M40A3 myself, I found it had too much recoil. I haven't unclocked the R700 yet so maybe that'll be better but possibly not seeing as the M40A3 is based on the R700.
I liked the M21 as it had less recoil and is semi-automatic.

Have you tried giving yourself the "iron lungs" perk? That might reactivate the breathing mechanism...although the problem is unusual.

Have you tried playing the actual game itself, play one of the sniping levels and see if you can hold your breath for that.

Off-topic, Interestingly I'm getting very good with the Druganov rifle I can now usually kill a running target with a single head shot I've had some really great kills over the past few days with that rifle.

I reset the sniper class to default. Tried it with other rifles, gave myself the iron lungs perk and the feckin' M21 still won't work. I've been using the Draganov but I'm more comfortable with the M21.
I setup a Lan game with just myself and the M21 worked fine with that, so it's just when I go online.

i was only jokeing i dont mind using the sniper rifle its good when you unlock the barett 50 cal

which sniper rifle is the best?
i have unlocked all of them
but can't seem to find any good points with any sniper rifle past the dragnov and m21.
the 50 cal is a huge dissapointment that gun should tear ppl apart and its little more effective than a shot from any other rifle (eg headshots puttin an end to ppl's merriment). the R700 just reeks of professionalism but can't understand why ppl pick it (is it an image thing? surely a semi automatic sniper rifle would be easier?
are the dragnov and m21 the same thing?
the seem the same to me just russian and american counterparts! personally i think the dragnov helps with woodland camoflag? views would be appreciated! expecially if your onea those that use the R700

I find the R700 or M40A3 the best sniper rifles , the Dragunov and M21 just seem extremely underpowered in comparison . with the likes of the R700 if you hit the enemy right its more or less a one shot kill . It takes a bit of getting used to but when you get it right theres nothing as satisfying as pulling off a few headshots from the far side of the map.:D

Barrett 50 cal and it's not close.

ahh it is a fine wepon but ill stick to the dragonov as ive already got used to the thing! all weapons are good in their own right (even the useless ones) depending on their user's comfort with them!

Well I've since left the M21 far behind and now the Dragunov is my sniping weapon of choice. However even on levels such as overgrown and creek I now tend to run around with a silenced AK47 and the UAV perk. Far, far better than sniping!
