Aer Lingus can only book in GBP?

I'm on the Aer Lingus website for the last hour and I'm going nuts I swear! I've tried both Firefox and IE and cleared all my cookies / temp files etc ...

I go to the IE website and it points me to the COM version. I select IRELAND from the dropdown and all the prices show in EURO.

I then select my TO and FROM flights, and prices start showing in GBP.

Anyone else having this problem? Am I going insane?

Aerlingus.com is fine for me. I can go in and select flights and the total charge shows in euro. Sorry as I know this doesn't solve your problem. good luck

Are you trying to book a flight were the first leg starts in the UK? If so most airlines will default you to GBP. It's a bit irritating alright.

Yes I am. That explains it. When I try the other way around IE > UK it works fine.

No way around this I guess? I pay GBP rates on my CC ?

The last time I ran into this (another airline) I ended up paying in sterling.

Sometimes it may even be cheaper to buy in GBP rather than selecting Euro where that option is available

Yeah, with aerlingus, you can choose to take payment in GBP or convert to Euro. From what I remember, they take a wholesale rate + a 3.75% margin. My CC only has a 1.75% margin, so makes sense to pay in GBP and let my bank convert to Euro.

How about you book as two seperate one-way flights?

That way you only pay one leg in £ and the other in € ?

Situation with Aerlingus.com is for some reason it sees Firefox as UK or International, not really sure which. To fix this problem at the top right of their homepage it has Country: United Kingdon, just change the country to Ireland and you will be sorted.

That won't work. Regardless of your web browser and default location, you have to pay in the currency of the country of your departing airport.

I did try this which I said in my first post, but maybe I didn't phrase it right.

The problem / answer is that I'm flying UK to Ireland and so I'm paying in GBP. Same with Ryanair and AL.

Not to worry lads. Thanks for advice anyhow.
