Can find one 1gb stick under a small RAM panel, but cant find the other 1gb stick!!! Do I have to dismantle the laptop...??

Its under the keyboard. You don't dismantle the whole thing, but it is a bit tricky sometime to get the keyboard off. A few steps. All described in the docs on the dell website for that machine.

And while yer at it... if yer putting in 4GB, you'll only get about 3.3GB I think. Dont worry - its normal and expected.
