We got married in the Johnstown house hotel in Enfield beautiful venue. We negotiated no end on price and got the price per head down grately. They seemed to appreciate the business and food was perfect.

Speaking as a mucisian and DJ, apologies to anyone who has it booked but of all the times Ive played barberstown (lotsandlots) it wouldnt be one Id recommend, the shape of the room is wrong, just doesnt lend itself to entertainment. The old layout they used to have, whilst a bit cramped, was better. Just my opinion.

If youre looking for a venue you'll be dictated by head count and price. Id second johnstown house and also the hamlet down the road from it. One thing Id say is dont just look at the venue, look at the room, is the bar in the same room, is it high ceiling, is it too long, if youre putting 100 people in a 200 person room will there be empty tables left out, will they partition if off.

Theres hardly any venues which are bad, venues cant really afford to have a bad review in the current climate so itll be down to taste, budget and head count after that.

abbeyleix and middleton are very good venues. When people say leinster do they just mean outside dublin? Are you taking in louth, meath and going down as far as wexford and kilkenny?

I had my wedding in the Abbey Hotel in Roscommon town a few weeks ago.
Staff were brillant and couldnt be helpful enough.

Totally agree with you Clint! Not a good room for band or dj. Personally I
    think the place is over-rated.

The bridge House in Tullamore is a great spot. Did a civil ceremony there and they did a great job.

Kilkenny, springford hall, was at 2 weddings there, and were great, place is only 3 star, but if you were lookin for a venue between june to aug and they were available, i reckon you'd ahve good bargainin power(as in if they were not booked by now they prob wont be?),Its not a spectacular venue but definitely an better than ok one i reckon it'd be sub 50 per head including corkage, bar extm, seat covers ect(some free rooms as well id imagine), thing mrg is seamus power?

I agree completely with you about Barberstown.

    Terrible shape room.

Thanks Guys for all the ideas,
Yes the only ything worrying be about Barbertstown was the shape of the room for entertainment purposes.

Middleton in Westmeath looks nice on web...expensice though, might go for restaurant and DJ in pub option......anyone any thoughs on that!
    thanks for all the help!

if you were looking around kildare, did you try the K club? not the main hotel but theres another place on the grounds there that they hold functions in (cant remember the name of it), Ive done it a couple of times, smallish, may 80-100 tops, I played it once last year and I remember the bride saying she didnt think it was as expensive as other places but what that means I dunno.

I tell ya what, I do remember they brought out freshly made rasher sandwiches on a bit of batch as the afters food. greatest afters finger food I can ever remember.
I was at a venue last week (I wont say which one cos I like playing there) but the sandwiches came out at 11 and I thought the first 2 I ate were toasted they were that hard from sitting in the fridge, dunno why they do that when theyre charging good money for them. I watched plates of the stuff being thrown out after. such a waste.

Hiya. I would recommend that you look at Lyrath or kilkenny Rivercourt Hotel if Kilkenny is an option

If you're still looking for a venue, you might try the following:-

    Liffey Valley House Hotel
    Leixlip House Hotel
    Killashee House
    K Club
    FYI Kilkea Castle (In examinership)
    Seven Oaks Hotel
    Dolmen Court Hotel
    Osprey Hotel
    Heritage Hotel Killenard
    Heritage Hotel Portlaoise
    Killeshin Hotel
    Bridge House Hotel
    Tullamore Court Hotel
    Ballykealy Manor Hotel
    Castle Durrow

That should keep you going for a while :)
