Anyone have it? This'll be my very first vest. For the price it seem excellent but I was wondering can looks be deceiving

i have one there pretty good just be carefull as there as some that are a bit... easy to rip id recommend get one from here http://www.flecktarn.co.uk/ustav1nx.html

its worth paying that little extra

I have one as well. the mag pouches are a little tight with m16 mags forget about anything bigger. There are plenty of other pockets including 2 small ones which are good for 40mm grenades

To penguin- When your as skint as I am you'd be surprised how willing I am to settle for less but just in case I make a decision I regret how rippable?

To hunter- You say tight are they able to fit in and out quickly or does it take some force?

Its not hard to remove mags, using mag pulls as I do makes it a piece of cake

    And without the magpulls?

I have the SAAV from flecktarn. This was the first vest I got and to be honest I found the pouches very awkward.

    This is a good vest

I have one in flecktarn camo, Its also available in other patterns.

Its great value and has all the pouches you need. Two of the magazine pouches are interchangeable for a crossdraw holster included with the vest.

I found it useful to put a piece of foam at the bottom of the mag pouches. It raises the mags and makes it easy to grip. or just make your own mag pulls

    Are the pouches that bad?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 207 ✭✭Hunter1100

the only reason for the foam is to make it easer to remove the mags its not necessary. Do you plan on using mid or high cap mags ? I used my with high caps and never had a problem. Only when I changed to mid- caps did in put int he foam. the best thing to do is to find someone that has one and decide if it is for you or not.

I guess so, but since where I'm from there are only 5, 6 including me people who have ever touched an AEG thats not really an option and I am using mid -caps any suggestions for material for some home-made magpulls?

    Do they work well?

I have that vest and find it great, frankly I have NO problems with it. Mags go in and out easily, and it has some nice big pouches on the sides and the back.
    I'd recommend it.

Ya see THAT'S what I want to hear although Home-made magpulls look dead easy to make

    What about general storage space?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,295 ✭✭✭SniperSight

Like I said, I find it has plenty of general, non-mag space. The side pouches are nice and spacy, great if you have bottles or bags of bbs on you. The back pouches are good too. I can fit my M4 Carry handle with scope attached, a bottle of bbs, a bi-pod, and gas, and I still could fit more.

Woh! And by the way is it true what they say about the 10-mag capacity?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,295 ✭✭✭SniperSight

Yes I reckon theres room for 10 mags. I have 6 mags in it(4 M4 and 2 Sniper) and i could definately see at least 4 more mags fitting in the front alone. There are 4 single M4/M16 puches, and then the bigger font pouch could fit 4 more M4/M16 mags double stacked. Then in the smaller ones I have my sniper mags. There are other sfront/side pouches that are great if you have speedloaders.

    Nice!

the SASV has 4 double mag pouches, one large pouch on the front, along with 2 smaller pouches which will take m16 mags, + there are two very large pouches one on each side

Them too, but I was only listing the frontal mag space. But i think you may be getting the picture about space.:)

I have the Viper vest and it is an excellent piece of kit. You can fill it with everything you need for a day out. the pouch at the back is perfect for a hydration bladder and there are a couple of elastic bands that you can thread the tube through.
the inside pocket can be used for storing gloves , hat etc.

    You wont go wrong.
