    Two things:

Do a search. That crowd have been very dishonest on this forum, logging in, pretending to be "satisfied" customers. Also known as shilling.

Point two : Whether it is "good" is all relative to what you will be using the laptop for.

On point 2 its for general Web, photos, dvd burning etc. nothing too hectic

Well the Toshiba you've linked is 17" and the Sony is 15", so straight away i'd have to ask - do you have a particular preference? Something to think about before narrowing down the choice - what exactly do you want/need in terms of portability, screen size, weight etc.

I've bought three things from them and they were excellent so I'd have no hesitation going back to them.

I've bought from them on three occasions & never had any problem.

On the last purchase, I actually rang them & purchased over the phone because I needed it rapid. I had it the following afternoon.

One thing I liked about them was the ability to contact them by phone & both get an answer & a human :D

I am not for a minute disputing your points. I too have ordered from them without problem.

However, they acted the dick on several occasions on this forum, hence my reluctance to recommend them.

    I'm not bitter.

Yeah, from their history here, I'd rather go round to a few shops and see if they'll pricematch than order straight away. Might be worth looking on komplett and dabs as well.

A little bit to late, but I felt I should leave this message anyway...

I ordered a laptop from laptopsdirect and a week later I still didn't get it.

I rang the UK number that is in the track your order page (another inconvenient as there is no Irish number to ring, so you'll have to ring UK) and I was told that it is in the car and I should have it that afternoon.

Next day at lunchtime I rang UK again and I was told that definitely I'll have it in the afternoon.

Third day at lunch time, I rang UK once more and Michael said that it was strange that it appears in their system that the laptop was delivered already.

He also gave me an Irish mobile number from the delivery company. When I rang, I was given the main office number to ring. I rang the office in Dublin and I was told that it would be delivered that day.

Fourth day, I rang UK this time and told them that it's their responsibility to comply with the next day delivery as promised and Michael (the guy answering in UK) promised to ring me back. He never did!

I rang again the office in Dublin, 4 hours later and the girl said she would ring me back in a few moments. She never did!
I rang again and spoke to a different person; again I was promised that it will be delivered in the afternoon.

I told him that if it is not delivered this time they can send it back to UK as I do not need it anymore, it supposed to be a present for my son's birthday..

    and I'm still waiting....

I will never buy again from LAPTOPSDIRECT.
