Nicky Richards is favouring the 3m option over the 2 1/2 miler which is without a doubt MG best trip, Obviously running scared of MM and straight in KS

he's declared for the betfair bowl tomorrow. It looks a penalty kick for Kauto star if he's over his gold cup exertions (and I wouldn't be 100% sure he will be, he looked completely knackered crossing the line at Cheltenham). Monets Garden and Our Vic aren't in his class and are probably better over a tad shorter. Gungadu surely isn't good enough and Exotic Dancer hasn't been at his best after the Betfair Chase at haydock (and would struggle to beat Kauto even if both turned up on their A game)

I'll sit this one out, I'll be loath to back horses who ran on the Friday of Cheltenham this year for the rest of the season, a lot of races turned into complete slogs on the ground.

Just saw the race....Shocking tactics employed by Nicholls/Ruby!! Puttting the Horse in front that early was crazy! Looks to me like Nicholls wanted Kauto to win by 20 lengths to prove what a great horse he is! Terrible.....

Spot on. Apparently Walsh was furious with Nicholls as he insisted that KS be ridden that way. Could have won hard held if he had have sat just behind Our Vic until the last then bang sweep clear inside the final furlong.

    Where did you hear that.

Obviously hit the front too early but he still looked over the top to me, getting shaken up early enough and took a while to quicken past Our Vic, i hope his summer break sees him back to his best next season.

Since when did Kauto Star need to be waited with that long. He simply isnt the same horse that he was at Christmas and even when winning at Ascot. Unfortunately, after two very hard seasons, I cant see him ever getting back to where he was. Nicholls mistake, in my humble opinion, was training the speed out of him.

Racing UK replay and quoted on sportinglife.com

Nicholls also stated categorically that horse did not leave race behind at Cheltenham and was in superb form before Aintree. To my mind you run that race again another 9 times with KS sitting in behind second, KS wins race each time

Ruby said to him afterwards, 'i should have held on to him, normally i have the balls to do what i want', he was furious
