Anyone else experiencing one? I'm aching to get out and take some shots, but I just can't get the motivation for it. Maybe it has to do with the fact that I've moved to the worst city in the country...

I am sure there are some really nice places around Limerick, what about the usual tourist areas? maybe try to shoot them in different ways or restrict yourself to one lens? I try lots of different things to keep me fresh and to discover different ways to shoot.

Yes I agree with Borderfox, get out and about. Maybe do some IR which you are so good at. Maybe set yourself a mini project?

Just enjoy it, today I am only bringing an 85mm f1.8 with me to take pictures and it just keeps me interested and thinking.

I remember you said that in another thread Borderfox where you just stuck to one lens on any given day. I tried it out myself and it really works and makes you think. Going out with just the nifty fifty is my equivilant of your 85 1.8 day. You might not get any shots worth keeping, but you never know, at least you're out clicking!

I suppose my biggest problem is a lack of a) interesting things to see b) a lack of parks c) no car :(

Take photo' of the local's knives! Only kidding..

You have your macro lens, look for smaller things to shoot. You could also create some things to photograph indoors too just like Calina did with her piano in the random photo thread.

I might give that one a go. I'm also mere weeks away from a 40D and a 70-200 2.8 and seeing as I live next to the Gaelic Grounds, I might try my hand and a bit of sports photog...

    Right off the top of my head;

    King John's Castle
    UL Pedestrian Bridge
    Clarion Hotel Building
    River Shannon
    Docklands - Down by Dolans
    Musgrave Park
    City Scapes

A photo of each shot by night. There's a challenge for you. All within walking distance.

Add in a singles lens restriction and you've got something to make you think.

Don't blame the city - just take a look at Latchiko's website (http://www.latchiko.com/welcome.shtml) to see what's possible. Fantastic stuff..

If you wanted a small photo project why not take photos of all the places on the limerick wikipedia page that were taken with a camera phone (I assume so because there ****e quality) and replace them with yours :D

Ok, fair enough, his pics are really good. I might actually try to make it to the UL bridge. It's a big of a trek, but it might be worth it.

I'm hoping to go back out there some evening soon. If you're interested in coming along you're more than welcome - I'm not too far from the Gaelic grounds so I could even give you a lift! :)

Limerick is a freaking fantastic city to take photo's in. I am only annoyed that for the 4 years i was living there i was not really into photography. My last few trips down has all involved in making it to places that i can take photo's.

My mext trip down will involve a nice run into Moy Ross to get some photo's before the do actually just pull the whole place down around the people who live there.

People might not like it, but over the next few years Limerick is gonna be fantastic for taking photo's with all the changes going on down there.

Get out and about with your camera and you'll be amazed at what you find. And don't forget about all the area's around the city as well!!!

Ah now, wait until you've seen the whole area first, there's loads of lovely stuff down here! The main scenic spots are about 10-20km away,Castleconnell,Falls of Doonass,Clare Glens,Lough Gur,Cratloe Woods etc. so the lack of a car means you are a bit more limited but there's still loads to see.YeahOk has a good list there of what's within walking distance and the UL river walk(an early morning job,it's probably better if I don't explain why!) and Condell river walk have to be done too.I'd reccomend the docks aswell, just ask the security guy and there should be no problem. The bus service here isn't great but I'm sure there's a few that go to Cratloe or down into south Limerick. There are some that only run once a day so make sure you don't get stranded.Just give the place time,it should grow on you;)

Give people an idea of what you're interested in and they might have a few suggestions for you or you could search what other people have uploaded to their pix or flickr albums that were taken around Limerick.

Limerick like everywhere has good and bad, baz was able to photograph some of the roughest areas no bother, so dont make excuses, plus you probably moved to a quiet part, get your camera and take shots, stop pussyfutting

I should have admitted in my earlier post that I spent 5 years in college in Limerick (it was NIHE back then), including 1 year as chairman of the camera club in the college, and never took a single picture that couldn't be classified as "total rubbish".

I'll have to plan a photographic w/end down there soon - see if I can do any better now.

I would have thought limerick city would have had a lot of places to photograph from gritty urban landscapes to historical to nouveau rich celtic tiger scenes and the shannon.
