Looks like some great new functions in there. I'm looking forward to the full release.

Lets hope its less buggy then 1.0 was...atleast on windows anyway :)

Have to say lightroom on OSX feels less buggy then on Windows,

    A review on DPReview

    I'm gonna read it now.

This is a great update! Localised adjustments were one of the few reasons I thought I might need to start using Photoshop. I'd love if I could do everything through Lightroom. If anyone wants an invite to the full beta (which I think lasts until August, rather than a 30 day trial), PM me your email address. Existing users of Lightroom can invite up to 5 people. EDIT: looks like they're unlimited.

Does anyone have any information on how much the final version will cost as an upgrade?

Good podcast on the new beta version : Link

According to adobe labs you have to instal it alongside your existing 1.3.1 version ... also ... you can invite others to participate in the trial until August if you have a legal copy ...

Thankfully ... I have a legal copy ... now that my employer likes me to be honest ...

So who wants the invite ?

I'm thinking Elven ... since she was so adament against it :pac:

Actually ... you can send an unlimited number of invites in blocks of five ... so invited myself 2 times and then Valentia, Fajitas and Elven ...

Someone needs to keep Fajitas honest...

Can't you just download and install beta from here without invite? What's the difference?

... you only get a 30 day license if you have not already got a legal copy of Lightroom 1.3.1 ...

The difference is the 30 day limit if you download it, as opposed to the unlimited trial (until full release) for those invited to test it.

Noticable differences in the GUI ... especially the library module ...

nice bunch of updates but personally I just hope the RAW engine is improved, for NEF files anyhow.

Agreed Eas, although I am impressed with the new feature set on paper the raw engine will still be ACR 4.3.1 I imagine. If they don't improve that then the rest is just cosmetic.

But post crop vignette for Fajitas! too :) I've been won over!

yep, I dont see anything that says "hey Nikon users, we now promise not to rubish your NEFs"

I should say that I do really like lightroom and use it for 80% of my conversions. The other 20% I use NX then export as TIFF, then import back into lightroom. The quality difference is notable but not always worth the hassle.

    Ooh...

    Must... not.... like..... lightroom!

    Aaaaargh!

    Also:
Follow these steps to get started with Lightroom 2.0 beta:

Read the release notes to familiarize yourself with the Lightroom 2.0 beta
Download and install the Lightroom 2.0 beta

This download will install the Lightroom 2.0 beta and will work independently alongside your installation of Lightroom 1.3.1. The beta version is intended to provide an opportunity to give feedback and as such, does not read, upgrade or import catalogs from previous versions of Lightroom. Please continue to use Lightroom 1.3.1 for your primary workflow needs.
