Those bloody expanding banners

You know the ones...they expand across the page when you mouse over the image. Few sites I use that always have them are bebo, hotmail and skysports.com. Every time I navigate back to the page the mouse inadvertently goes over the image and it expands over the page you're trying to read.
    This wreck anyone else's head?

Didn't Boards have one at one stage?

The worst are those 888 ones, but a descent pop up blocker should prevent most of the html banners. Its the flash banners that are hard to block.

The ones on hotmail get to me the most cause they're not your usual where you move the mouse off them they shrink back down. The ones there stay open for the whole ad and cover up the inbox button so you almost have to sit and watch it

You people really need to run firefox with adblock and filterset g updater. Also flash block. I pretty much never see any ads anywhere.

    1) Use Firefox.

    2) Install the 'NoScript' Firefox Plug-in. This allows you to control which sites are allowed to run fancy stuff on your machine like expanding crap. Eg. I don't let Bebo show me all of those ****ing Apps. Helps prevent malicious code execution, too.

    3) Install 'Adblock Plus' Firefox plug-in. This removes 99% of all web-ads.

I'm just glad I kept my abacus and my sundial somewhere handy. No such problems for me!! (well except for the blimps with ads on them, but they're still quite rare).

    Adblock for firefox info

Or, if you use Opera (and you should)

right click anywhere on the page, then select Content Blocker
Then hold down shift and click on any offending banner image.

Then click on 'Details' most of the ad ones will be something like this

    http://affiliates.jlist.com/media/1974/82

    So just change that to

    http://affiliates.jlist.com/*

to block everything from that server, ever.

    There you go.
