    HI,

Has anyone had these done on an annual basis? I was reading a magazine yesterday and it mentioned that you should have these done on a regular basis? I am 32 and I have never had one done?

If you are sexually active you are ment to have one done ever 5 years,
if you are sexually active and on the pill/patch ect you are ment to have one every 3 years
if you are sexually active and on the pill/patch ect and a smoker you are ment to have one ever year.

That is how in stands in this countries others have them as standard once a year.

A pelvic exam is an american term for having a smear test or pap smear and the examination that goes along with it.

If you have never had a smear test/ pelvic exam then I would strongly suggest you talk to your gp about doing it or if your gp cant' or you don't want your gp to do a referal to a public clinic ( there is a waiting list and they are done on a set few days a month )
or that you contact the likes of the www.ifpa.ie or www.wellwoman.ie and book an appointment there for one.

Getting a smear test is very important for all women.

    HI,

I have regular smear tests, but the impression I get in the meaning of a pelvic exam is that the doctor examines for lumps/checks ovaries etc?

You dr should be doing that as part of the exam.
