I've played both golf courses and both are equally good

Because the Irish Open is going to be held in Adare this year, I would go for Adare, It is having a lot of work put into it.

The 18th is a really memorable hole.

Mt Juliet is definitely second on my list.

As of right now if you were going for a game I would say Mount Juliet by a mile. I played Adare on Sunday last, p***ed rain for the whole round, so got soaked. I was disappointed with the condition of the course, having played there last year when, at the time, it was great. I just felt it was a little bit shabby on Sunday. It's a good challenge but may wait till nearer the Open or after it. Mount Juliet is in fabulous nick, a mate played in last Thursday and was raving about it.
I would have to say Juliet to answer the original question.

Mt Juliet is class and has held the top tournaments with great aplomb but I think that the natural lie of the land in Adare is a little ahead. There are a few weak holes in Mt Juliet ( The Par 3 14th & Par 4 15th spring to mind!) but there are no weak holes in Adare.
I got to play both courses after they held serious Tournaments and even though Mt Juliet was seriously tough off the back tips the scope for making it such was limited. Adare on the other hand has more aces up its sleeve.

    Adare for me.

(Waterville is ahead of both though!!) ;)

2 to adare and 2 to mount juliet so far. i have to say i'd prefer adare to mount juliet. it has more memorable holes. 7th 9th 11th 12th 13th 15th 16th and of course the 18th. one of the finest golf holes i've ever played. got on in two once ever and three putted for a stupid par. always have a go at it eventhough sometimes i haven't a hope!!

Think that the 15th in Mt Juliet is one of the holes that they had to find!
And as for memorable holes... The closing 6 holes in Adare are incredible. And the 18th in Adare is truly the most fantastic closing hole in the land!!

    13 & 14 are nice holes
    15 & 16 are memorable
17 is a straight hole nothing special
    18 is memorable

Have to disagree with you here, I can't understand you calling the 14th 'weak'.
It's a visually very attractive part of the course, long iron over a valley into a well protected and undulating green... maybe you weren't playing off the back tees? ;)

I used to think the 15th was weak but it does have a tricky green, especially if the flag is back left. The drive is short and a bit bland but there is OB on both sides...

Have played both on numerous occasions and I think Adare has to get the nod - it is, for me, the finest Parkland course in the country. Ahead of Mt. Juliet though not by much!

I have only played Mount Juliet but played it a few times. Front, middle and back. (Front and middle in society) back when had a free fourball.

Its not much of a course off the front. Some tees are miles to far forward.

Like the 4th hole with the tree line drive and last real tight drive before the course opens up.

10th hole is all about risk and reward. Going for that green and not catching it right can be a disater. Even hitting in lay up if you don't catch it right you are in trouble.

I agree about 14th hole. I have played 3iron into that green head wind. Feel like hitting a postage stamp with all the bunkers around. I think its the 2nd best par 3 on the course after the 3rd hole off the back tee's as its all carry.

Looking forward to playing MJ tomorrow. Lets hope the weather is kind and the tees are back (Costing €65 includs breakfast)

From a design point of view, I'd have to say Adare but not by much. The back 9 is just a great 9 holes. I agree with scout353.....I think its the best parkland in Ireland.

Got a Mount Juliet newsletter in the inbox today, here's the web version.

    €100 for two rounds in 2008 - can't go wrong there :)

Mount Juliet is definitely the better course, and the welcome at the club is much better. We had our society there a few months ago and they couldn't have welcomed us better. Food's great too !

Anyway, no wonder they were voted Best Parkland Golf Course in Ireland.

Regarding that offer it is 8 Rounds of Golf for €400 ... basically you get 2 fourballs, one in April and one in other time of year.

We home to go back in September if I can get all the lads together!

I found Adare not as challenging and a bit rougher around the greens but thats just me!. :)

Played Mount Juliet today and its in great condition.

They are doing up the tee boxes at the moment so you can be on either pro tee's, forward tees or middle.

Unfortunately the 3rd was only 119 yards flick.

A lot of the pins are on the sides of the green and if you leave yourself short sided good luck. No chance of getting up and down.

Played them both and imo Adare is better. All holes are unique and it has a better layout than MJ or K Club.

Played Adare in March when it was wet and windy. Looking at the first day of the Irish open, the course look's fantastic.

Liked the course so want to go again. Also trying to get my regulars to go and play Mount Juliet.
