Just wondering if anyone can help me out with reseting a bios password on a Acer Ferrari 4005.

I bought it here 6 months ago or so and cant find the ad on adverts to ask the person the password.Havent needed it before now !doh!

Or if the person who sold this to me around September/november is reading this can they pm me.

Should have asked when I bought it.

    Anyway thanks in advance.

    Richie

You can reset the password on a PC by resetting the CMOS... I'm not sure how you would get to that in a laptop though. But its definitely underneath one of the back panels. Go fetch a screwdriver at any rate.

Bios passwoeds and laptops are a world of pain. There is no easy way of resetting/removing a bios password on a laptop without knowing the master passwrd (ie. dell's used to be DELL etc) or finding first hand off the person who you bought it from.
Theres a possiblity that Acer support may be able to help you but this never goes easily as for all they know you stole the laptop.
Most people think removing the battery pack and the laptops CMOS battery (good luck to finding it in the first place!) will clear the bios but this I'm afraid is not always the case.
So in other words hunt for that Advert and track down the seller.

    http://www.cgsecurity.org/wiki/CmosPwd

    also http://www.11a.nu/software/bios-pc-bios-security-and-maintanance-toolkit/

which is available as part of the http://ultimatebootcd.com

Depending on how technical you are, im sure that there is a jumper on the motherboard that can be used to bypass the password, i would have a look through the online user guides, but i dont have the time right now, sorry..

forget about jumpers on motherboards with laptops, and you'd practically have to dissmantle the laptop completely to find the cmos battery, let alone get at it! save yourself a world of pain as it may not necessarily be under the back cover. most i've seen in fact are located on the motherboard right underneath the palmrest! go with overheal on this one and download UBCD.
